Applied Behavior Analysis therapy (children 2-14)

  • ABA is the science of learning and behavior, backed by decades of research and real world application. ABA helps us understand how behavior works, how the environment affects behavior, as well as how behavior affects the environment. The goal of ABA is to increase client-relevant functional behaviors that give children with special needs access to a more independent quality of life. While ABA is mostly known for being an evidence-based therapy for the treatment of autism, it can also be used to help learn new skills and healthier lifestyles.
  • ABA is evidenced-based. The US Surgeon General and the American Psychological Association consider ABA to be an evidence-based treatment. This means that the quality, usefulness and effectiveness of ABA has been scientifically tested. Multiple studies have shown that ABA provides the opportunity for better outcomes for many children with ASD. Studies have also demonstrated that early intensive intervention of 25-40 hours a week helps in increasing language development, social skills, intellectual skills, and activities of daily living.
  • ABA therapy helps to increase language and communication skills which naturally result in a reduction of problem behaviors. Just as important, ABA helps to develop or improve attention skills, social skills, memory, and academics.
  • ABA therapy encompasses many different techniques for studying, understanding, and changing behavior as it is relevant to each client. It is also highly flexible in that it can be adapted to every unique person’s needs; implemented in various locations/settings such as home, school/daycare, community, clinic; can be implemented in group, during play, one-on-one; and teaches daily living skills that are useful for age relevant independence.

THE BEYOND WAY

  • Providing quality ABA therapy is mostly achievable by having well trained therapists. At BEYOND we focus on continuing education for our therapists with weekly supervision by experienced Board Certified Behavior Analyst and monthly training on topics such as Ethics, Interventions, respecting client’s choice, and maximizing therapy sessions. Our therapists are professional, respectful, and passionate about supporting children with special needs.
  • At BEYOND, your child will be having fun while simultaneously learning and growing. It is our belief that children need to be children regardless of a diagnosis. This means children, regardless of a diagnosis, deserve to have fun and engage in kid friendly activities such as painting, playing games, riding bicycles, playing sports or any other preferred activity.

Parent/caregiver Strategies Training

  • Parents/caregivers of children with special needs face significantly higher stress and emotional challenges. The National Research Council found that the addition of parent education in the treatment of children with ASD helps their child reach their full potential. There is evidence to support parent education as a way to increase the child’s progress and retain the learned skills in the home and community setting.

THE BEYOND WAY

  • Go to the park, out for a family dinner, on a family vacation, or simply enjoy the day to day with the assurance that you have the tools to support your child with special needs through these family activities. We give you the tools to feel confident in identifying and maximizing your child’s learning opportunities in any setting and circumstance.
  • Parent/caregiver strategies training centers around empowering parents/caregivers in order to seamlessly and naturally continue the learning process in the home and community. At BEYOND, our goal for families is to increase the quality time spent together with their children regardless of a diagnosis. Each parent training program is individualized to efficiently transfer skills learned in therapy to the home and community setting. Empowering parents/caregivers to continue the learning process at home helps reduce stress, engage their child with ASD in family activities, and increases social participation for the entire family such as attending church, eating at restaurants, playing at the park, and even taking family vacations.
